Most Worshipful Brother Robert K. “Bob” Chapman is a native of Utah and was raised in the Salt Lake City area. He is the second of four children in his family. Bob graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, “Class of 1978”. He continued his education at University of Phoenix where he graduated with honors, earning two bachelor’s degrees: one each in Business Administration and Business Management.

Bob married Shari Green on November 28, 1987 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They have three children, a son Joseph A. Chapman, married to Laura Brody, a daughter, Melissa L. Chapman, and a son, Robert W. Chapman. They also have one grandson, Zachary.

Bob has worked in the engineering field since 1976, starting out in drafting and working his way up to his current position as a Project Engineer. He has worked for many companies, but has worked at Kennecott Utah Copper for the past 20 years. Bob has sat on the Board of Directors of Utah Federal Credit Union and also started or held partnerships in eight companies. The companies were diverse: Engineering and Design, Custom Jewelry Fabrication, Graphic Arts, Stained Glass, Home Speaker Manufacturing, Landscaping, and Foreign Currency Trading. He currently owns RSC Enterprises, Inc. as a sideline business trading foreign currencies.

Soon after MWB Chapman started dating Miss Shari Green he attended the installation of Shari’s stepmother as Grand Guardian, IOJD of Utah. It was his first exposure to Freemasonry, and his first visit to a Masonic Temple. He later met a Mason at Kennecott and started asking questions. This led to his petitioning Canyon Lodge #13 in Midvale, Utah in 1989. He was initiated an Entered Apprentice in March, 1990; Passed to the degree of Fellow Craft in May, 1990 and Raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on June 28, 1990. Bob moved up the officers chairs rapidly and became Worshipful Master of Canyon Lodge for the 1995 Masonic year, serving again as Worshipful Master in 2000. He then affiliated with Christopher Diehl Lodge #19, serving as their Worshipful Master in 2005. He currently maintains membership in three Regular Lodges: Canyon Lodge #13, Midvale, Utah; Christopher Diehl Lodge # 19, Magna, Utah and St. Andrews Lodge #34. He is also a charter member of Camp Floyd Historic Lodge #205; and is an Honorary Member of four Lodges: Golden Spike Lodge #6, Ogden, Utah; Rocky Mtn. Lodge #11, Tooele, Utah; Wasatch Lodge #1, Salt Lake City, Utah; and Sentinel Lodge # 4707, Stockport, England.

MWB Bob was first asked to serve in Grand Lodge by MW Bruce R. Betts in 1996 and has since served during 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 serving in many different Grand Lodge positions. He is the Grand Lodge representative to Minnesota and Maryland. He was installed as the 135th Grand Master of Free and Accepted Masons in Utah on January 30, 2010.

MWB Bob is also affiliated with many of our Masonic organizations. He joined The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (A&ASR) during the fall reunion, 1990 receiving the 32°, invested a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in 1997 and was coroneted a 33º Inspector General Honorary in 2005. He served as Wise Master of Rose Croix in 1996; Master of Kadosh in the Utah Consistory in 2004, and currently serves as Commander of the Council of Kadosh. He has performed in the 9th, 14th, and 31st degrees, as well as the KCCH investiture ceremony. He has also served as the Assistant Director of the 9th and 30th degrees, as well as the Director of the 9th degree and the KCCH investiture ceremony. He has served on the A&ASR Class Committee during the Scottish Rite reunions, and is currently representing the A&ASR on the board of the Salt Lake Masonic Temple Association.

MWB Bob joined Ontario Chapter No.3, Royal Arch Masons, Daly Council No.5, Cryptic Masons, and Malta Commandery No.3, Knights Templar, Midvale/Park City York Rite in 1995. He has been the Illustrious Master in the Cryptic Masons and currently holds offices in the Commandery and Chapter. He has also received the Thrice Illustrious Master degree.

He was initiated into the Royal Order of Scotland in 1995 and served as President of the Royal Scots of Utah in 2003. He became a noble of El Kalah Shrine Temple, Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in 1992. He was also admitted as an honorary member of the National Sojourners, Salt Lake Chapter #114 in 2007. He is a member, and Past Patron of Martha Chapter #7, Order of the Eastern Star, Midvale, Utah. He has served as an Advisor for the R.W. Moore Chapter of DeMolay.

MWGM Chapman is proud that many of the brethren warmly refer to him as “Uncle Bob”.
