M.W. Grand Master David W. Barron was born September 4, 1958, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Francis and Lillian Barron, the fourth of six children. They moved to Ogden, Utah, on David's seventh birthday. He attended school in Ogden, graduating from Bonneville High School in 1977. He graduated in 1982 from Weber State College with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology, with an emphasis in gerontology, and a minor in communications.
He married Annette Lewis on November 6, 1982, in Ogden. They have three children, two girls, Nicole and Karissa, and one boy, Austin. They are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Ogden where David has served as a lay leader, chairman of both the Pastor Parish Committee and Administrative Board, and presently serves as a worship assistant.
While attending school, David worked at Fashion Fabrics, 7-Eleven, Cream-O-Weber Dairies, and Big Vern's Service Station. After graduating from college he worked for Weber County Department of Aging and McKay Dee Home Care as a Medical Social Worker. He is a licensed Social Service Worker for the State of Utah and has worked for Weber Human Services the past three years. He served as Senior Centers Program Manager for one year and presently is a case manager for Senior Services In-Home Programs.
David is a Senior DeMolay and was a member of Ogden Chapter Order of DeMolay.
In 1991, he was a recipient of the International Order of DeMolay Active Legion of Honor.
Most Worshipful Brother Barron was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on November 29,1979, in Unity Lodge No. 18 in Ogden. He served as Worshipful Master in 1989, and has served as secretary since October 1990.
He is a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Salt Lake, Orient of Utah, and received the 32 in Spring of 1984 as a member of the 163rd Class. He served as Venerable Master of the Jordan Lodge of Perfection in 1996, and presently is serving as Master of Ceremonies of the Utah Consistory. David was invested with the Rank and Decoration of Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in November 1997. He is a member of the Ogden Scottish Rite Club and served as president in 1990.
Brother Barron joined the York Rite in 1995, and is a member of Ogden Chapter #2, Ogden Council #3, and El Monte Commandery #2. He was initiated a member of Bonneville Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine in January of 1998.
He was created a Noble in EI Kalah Temple, Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of Salt Lake City in 1986, and is a member of the Ogden Shrine Club. He is an honorary member of the El Kalah Shrine Oriental Band.
David is a member of Queen Esther Chapter #4, Order of the Eastern Star in Ogden, Utah. He has served as Chaplain and Warder.
He also is a member of several other Masonic bodies, including the Royal Order of Scotland, Royal Scots of Utah, Scottish Rite Research Society, and Ogden Library Club. He was appointed Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Japan near the Grand Lodge of Utah in 1997.
Most Worshipful Grand Master Barron was appointed to the Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Utah in 1990, and has served in various offices since then. David was elected and installed Grand Master on February 10, 1998.
