M.W. Brother Robert Keith McKenzie was born January 10, 1937, in Cawker City, Kansas, to Vaughn and Maxine McKenzie. He was educated in the public school system in Ogden, Utah, graduating from Ogden High School in 1955. He attended Weber State University and graduated from Utah State University in 1960 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He received a Master of Engineering Administration Degree from the University of Utah in 1972.
Brother McKenzie married the former Dianne Hadley of Ogden on September 19, 1958. They have four daughters, Pam, Linda, Becky, and Nicole. Becky passed away in 2008 and the McKenzies celebrate five grandchildren.
M.W. Bob went to work for Kennecott Copper Corporation after college, first as a Management Trainee, and later as a Design Engineer at the Utah Smelter. In 1966 M.W. McKenzie was employed by the United States Air Force at Hill Air Force Base as a Facilities Engineer. He retired in 1994 as Chief Facilities Engineer for the Base. M.W. McKenzie was a register Profession Engineer in the State of Utah.
After retirement, M.W. Bob did some consulting engineering work for Hill Air Force Base, and part time work at a motel for five years. M.W. McKenzie was active in his community serving for ten years on the Bountiful City Planning Commission, and as President in his last year. M.W. Bob is an active member of the Bountiful Lions Club, and served as President twice, and was elected District Governor of Lions Clubs International in 1988/89. He also elected as the State Council Chairman for the Lions of Utah. He is also an active member of the Bountiful Community Church serving in most church offices, as Board and Council Chairperson, and as Lay Leader.
M.W. McKenzie started his Masonic involvement as a DeMolay in the Ogden Chapter, and served as Master Councilor, is a 50 year Senior DeMolay, and received the Legion of Honor in 2002. He is also a Chevalier. M.W. Bob was initiated and Entered Apprentice on October 26, 1987, passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on February 4, 1998, and raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on March 28, 1988 all in Bonneville Lodge # 31 located in Bountiful, Utah. He served in most Lodge officies and as Worshipful Master in 1994 and 1995.
M.W. Bob joined the Scottish Rite in 1998, and received the Knight Commander Court of Honor in 2003 and coroneted a 33rd Degree Inspector General Honorary in 2007. He is serving as the Director General of Work in the Orient of Utah. He was created a Noble in El Kalah Shrine in 2000, and served as the President of the Mini-Bike Unit in 2009. M.W. McKenzie joined the Salt Lake City Utah #1 York Rite Bodies and has served as High Priest, Illustrious Master, and Commander of these Bodies. He was elected to the Red Cross of Constantine, Bonneville Conclave in 2005. He is a member and Past Worthy Patron of Bethsaida Chapter # 22 , Order of Eastern Star, and a Past Master of the Utah research Lodge. M.W. Bob is Vice President of the National Sojourners, Chapter 114, and Past Commander of the Hero's of '76.
Most Worshipful Brother McKenzie was appointed to the Grand Lodge of Utah in 1995 by the late Grand Master James L. Murphy. He was elected Junior Grand Warden in 2000, and was elected Grand Master at the 131st Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge on February 1, 2003. He was elected Grand Secretary in 2006 and servd the Grand Lodge in that capacity until 2010.
