Grand Master Dean D. Rein

Most Worshipful Brother Dean D. Rein was born on June 24, 1959, in Los Angeles, California, and was adopted by his loving parents Richard C. and Peggy J. Rein at the age of six weeks. He was educated in the Tustin Unified School District and graduated in 1977 from Foothill High School, Tustin, California. M∴W∴ Brother Rein enrolled in the School of Business Administration at California State University, Fullerton, and earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Management Information Systems in 1981 and his Masters of Business Administration Degree in 1983.

After graduation, M∴W∴ Brother Rein was hired by GTE Corporation (now Verizon) in Santa Monica, California as a computer systems analyst. He continued working for GTE for 11 years and left the company in 1994 after serving as its Information Systems Manager. He moved to St. George, Utah in the summer of 1994 to help with the family business, as his mother Peggy was terminally ill with cancer. After serving as a project director for several years, M∴W∴ Brother Rein became the President and Chief Executive Officer of D&T Properties, which paved with way for his father to enjoy semi-retirement. After 46 years of bachelorhood, M∴W∴ Brother Rein married his sweetheart Edie on September 24, 2005 in Salt Lake City. They now enjoy dual residency in St. George and Salt Lake City.

Most Worshipful Brother Rein began his Masonic journey on March 15, 1995 when he was initiated an Entered Apprentice in St. George Lodge No. 33; passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft on April 19, 1995 and raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on April 29, 1995. It is worth noting that the officers of the Grand Lodge of Utah conferred his Master Mason degree during an official Grand Master’s visitation. He was elected Worshipful Master of St. George Lodge No. 33 in 1997, serving two consecutive terms. He holds dual membership with Twin Peaks Lodge No. 32, Midvale. He is a Past Patron of Silver Reef Chapter No. 26, Order of Eastern Star. He became a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite in Salt Lake City at the Fall Reunion Class of 1995 and was invested with the rank of Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 2001 and coroneted a 33rd Degree Inspector General, Honorary, in 2005. He is a member of the El Kalah Shrine and is the Commander of the Aviation Club. He is a member of the Salt Lake City, Price and Midvale-Park City York Rite Bodies, and he is serving as Illustrious Master of Cryptic Masons for Daly Council No. 5, Midvale. He is also serving in the Grand Commandery as Excellent Prelate. He is a member of the National Sojourners, the Heroes of ’76 and the Bonneville Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine.

Most Worshipful Brother Rein was appointed to the Grand Lodge of Utah in 1999 by Grand Master Jeff A. Chretien as Junior Grand Steward. He went on to serve in the positions of Grand Standard Bearer, Grand Chaplain, Grand Orator, Grand Lecturer Grand Marshal, and Senior Grand Warden. He was elected Deputy Grand Master (Grand Master Elect) at the 134th Annual Communication on February 4, 2006 and was installed Grand Master on February 3, 2007 at the 135th Annual Communication.
