GRAND LODGE F&AM OF UTAH
JUNE 2007 NEWSLETTER
Warm Fraternal Greetings,
I would like to begin by thanking Illustrious Potentate Larry Fielden and Lady Tracie for making the all-Masonic Hawaiian Cruise possible. It was an unforgettable experience for all of us. There were about 80 Masonic types on the trip, most of who were from Utah, and we all had a terrific time. Edie and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Again,
thanks, Brother Larry, for everything! I also want to thank another Larry, Worshipful Brother Larry Beaslin, and the Grand Lodge Youth Committee, for coordinating the Masonic Youth Day at Lagoon. We had a great turnout and everyone had a fun and exciting time.
I want to let you know about some other exciting events coming up in the near future:
• June 29 - Grand Lodge Table Lodge, Ogden Masonic Temple - In remembrance of our Masonic patron saint, St. John the Baptist, your Grand Lodge will be conducting a Table Lodge on Friday, June 29th, 7 pm at the Ogden Masonic Temple. This promises to be an excellent evening of fellowship and fun, and the annual occasion is one that should be marked and celebrated by all Masons—Entered Apprentices and Master Masons alike. Cost is $35 and includes dinner, consisting of soup, salad, turkey legs, vegetables, yams, and desert; your choice of beers or other beverages and a souvenir toasting cannon, made especially for the occasion. Please make your reservations by June 15th with Worshipful Brother Arthur Reilly, 801-680-4981, arthur5525@hotmail.com. Additional souvenir cannons will be available at $7.50. All proceeds will benefit the Grand Lodge Endowment Fund. See the flyer accompanying this newsletter and share it with other Brethren who would like to join us in remembering our patron saint.
• August 24-25 – Utah Masonic Leadership Academy, Salt Lake Hilton (Downtown) – The UMLA replaces the Warden’s Retreat and offers a common place and time for leadership training for the entire Masonic Family and provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and will help to improve relations between our organizations. Registration information and details should already be in the hands of our different Masonic groups and I urge our Lodges, Chapters, Divan, Bethels, Commandries, Consistories, and other bodies, to sponsor and send representatives to this unique training opportunity.
Grand Lodge Holiday Nuts Fundraiser
I wanted to give everyone advanced notice of the annual Grand Lodge Holiday Nuts fundraiser that will be put on by our Grand Lodge ladies. The proceeds from the sales go toward their charities, which are the Make-A-Wish Foundation,Scottish Rite Children’s Learning Centers and the El Kalah Temple Transportation Fund. Our ladies will be using a new vendor this year and the quality of the nuts and candy will be unsurpassed, yet the pricing will be about the same. Look for details and order brochures in a few weeks and order early for the holidays.

The Magna playhouse is putting on the musical play Fiddler on the Roof and our lodge is going to serve a PRIME RIB dinner before the show. This is a fund raiser for our lodge. We need to do some maintenance and repair on our Temple and are finding our funds are a bit short. You and your lady will be able to eat a prime rib dinner, and then have a fun time at the show. For this fun night out on the town the cost is only $25 per person. Dinner will be served at 6:00 PM and the play will begin at 7:30 PM. To make reservations please contact our Junior Deacon Bro.
