Utah Masonic Public Library
In 1877 the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Utah established the Masonic Public Library. This was the first public library in the Utah Territory. From that time there was a great deal of interest in Salt Lake City to consolidate various privately held public libraries and in 1891 the majority of the collections were transfered to the Pioneer Library Association.
However Masons still maintained a library of materials of a Masonic interest; masonic history, masonic philosophy, and classical education. In commemoration of the committment of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Utah to the Education of the people of Utah, the Masonic Library remains open to the public, free of charge.
To visit the library please call ahead first to make arrangements to have the library opened.
